About Me.

IMG_9931.JPG

I am an audio engineer in my fourth year at the University of Rochester. I have experience in digital signal processing, interactive music, game sound design, and hardware module processing. I am passionate about using sound to create emotional experiences, and I hope to continue exploring this across many mediums—such as apps, games, immersive installations, and physical hardware.

I’m from Harbin, China—a city delightfully named “The City of Music.” So, no doubt, I grew up playing a lot of music in my childhood. However, I studied in traditional Chinese schools, working more than 10 hours a day, seven days a week. Because of that, I wasn’t able to take any music with me. It wasn’t until I came abroad to study audio engineering that everything changed.

I didn’t know how big the world is; I didn’t know what a journey of discovery feels like. But almost four years of study have wide-opened my eyes. My childhood memories came back—only this time, I am not someone who learns everything but never keeps going in any of them. I finally found the path that belongs to me, and I will enjoy every moment of this journey for as long as I decide to commit.

These experiences have shaped who I am, and I am very grateful to become the engineer I am today. I believe that I am always being led to a better place, no matter how challenging it seems sometimes. If I continue to rise above fear, and surrender to the flow of life, I can see opportunities—and that everything is working for me.
